INDIA MARKET – TOP MARKET FOR MALDIVES IN 2023

India is now the Maldives' top visitor destination, surpassing Russia, according to new data from the Ministry of Tourism. According to the figures, 205,278 Indian tourists have arrived in the Maldives this year, making up 11.2% of all visitors. With Russia currently in second place, after having previously held the top spot, this development represents a substantial turnaround. Russia has sent 203,539 tourists to the Maldives, accounting for 11.1% of all visitors.

It's interesting to note that India has led the pack in terms of visitors to the Maldives this year on previous occasions. For the first time, in April, India recorded 17,577 arrivals, more than Russia (16,979 arrivals). With only a few days left in the year, the Maldives is on course to meet the 1.9 million visitor arrival goal established by the previous administration. With 1,834,759 tourist arrivals so far, the country's attractiveness as a travel destination is evident.
