LAUNCHING OF INSTRUCTOR TRAINING TO SUPPORT DIVERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The instructor training program to assist Divers with Special Needs in the Maldives was inaugurated on October 12th, 2022, by the Ministry of Tourism in association with PHSA USA and Atoll's World. Maldives being one of the world's top diving locations needs to be inclusive and accessible for visitors with special needs to participate in recreational scuba diving and snorkeling activities. The programs are holistic and includes lessons on sustainable tourism as well as ocean literacy.

The ceremony was carried out by Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism, who established Poseidon Handicap Scuba Adventures training of diving instructors to make Maldives a nation that supports and implements tourism that is accessible to individuals with disabilities. The government will be making every effort to introduce innovative, safe, and convenient policies to improve the overall experience for tourists who are physically challenged. The event was attended by high-level officials from organizations including MATI, NBAM, NGAM, MATATO, and ATA.
