NIKA ISLAND RECOGNIZED AS THE WORLD’S FIRST “KIND ISLAND”

  • 12 April 2023

At a ceremony on April 2, 2023, Nika Island Resort is recognized as the first "Kind Island" in the world by signing the Manifesto of the Kind Island. Ten practices that lead to kindness are included in the manifesto. Nika Island is a member of the International Kindness Movement, a global network of more than 300,000 individuals, groups, businesses, and institutions promoting kindness via community impact initiatives.

"The ability to connect with everyone's spirit and the natural world is a gift that kindness bestows upon us. Our membership in the International Kindness Movement is meant to show this concrete commitment, which we will continue to pursue and strengthen. "At Nika, we have been actively engaged in social programs and the preservation of the environment and traditions since 1983" commented Giovanna Bellazzi, the owner of Nika Island Resort.

The Nika Island Resort is commemorating its 40th birthday this year. The resort's dedication to kindness is demonstrated by the many environmental and social impact programs carried out over the past 40 years. More than 30 different indigenous tree types and more than 1,852 different plants are dispersed across Nika, which has conserved the island's biodiversity. Also, the resort is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing its vibrant house reef by working on a coral garden restoration project. To preserve Maldives cultural history, the Nika museum opened its doors in 2017 with an outstanding collection of relics, prints, and fossils.
