The Maldives' president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, expressed optimism that 1.9 million visitors would travel there this year, marking success in the nation's attempts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. President Solih recently emphasized the significance of the strong actions taken by the Maldives to tackle the pandemic at a gathering. The recent beneficial changes in tourism have been made possible in large part by these efforts. The President also drew attention to the various ways used by other nations to combat the virus, highlighting the obvious effects of these decisions.

The one millionth visitor to the Maldives arrived on July 16 of this year. The country has outperformed expectations, and the tourism ministry said that this milestone has been accomplished ahead of schedule. Initially, the agency estimated that the country would welcome one million tourists in July.

President Solih praised the Maldives for making the wise choice to continue with development plans despite the pandemic. The country's resiliency and potential for future expansion in the travel industry have both benefited from this strategic approach. The daily stream of travellers arriving, along with the anticipated increase during the busiest months of the year, November and December, point to a highly optimistic view for meeting and possibly exceeding this goal.
