  • 12 February 2023

As of February 8th, 2023, the Maldives' Ministry of Tourism claimed that the nation had welcomed over 220,574 visitors. This is a substantial improvement over the 116,991 arrivals registered in 2021 and a 31% rise over the same period in 2022. According to the figures, the Maldives welcomed 172,536 tourists in January, and 48,038 more came during the first week of February. The average length of stay in the Maldives is 8 days, with 5,656 tourists arriving daily.

More than 6,800 travellers arrived at Velana International Airport on February 4, which was the day with the most arrivals ever. The Maldives government successfully met its goal of 1.6 million tourist visits in 2022 on December 20 and wants to reach a target of 1.8 million visitor arrivals by the end of 2023. The Maldives, a well-liked location for tropical holidays, continues to draw tourists from all over the world thanks to a wide variety of amenities and a growing tourism economy.

A large rise in visitors compared to the same period last year bodes well for The Maldives' tourism industry. By concentrating on bringing in tourists from all over the world and preserving a healthy tourism sector, the Maldives is on track to meet its goal of 1.8 million visitors by the end of 2023.
