TOURIST ARRIVALS INCREASE BY 13.7% IN THE MALDIVES

The beautiful island nation has graciously welcomed a phenomenal 1,086,074 tourists as of August 2nd, according to the most recent statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism. This is a significant increase of 13.7% in compared to the same period last year, when the Maldives welcomed a total of 955,502 guests.

With an astonishing 128,404 visitors coming in the Maldives, Russia leads the way among the major sources of this tourism boom. India comes in second place, with 123,151 visitors, and China comes in third, with 94,476 visitors who graciously visited the island nation by August 2, 2023.

The Maldives has successfully increased its capacity for lodging to include 61,564 beds in order to accommodate the growing number of tourists. In addition to the 41,813 beds spread throughout 175 resorts, there are 1,640 beds in 13 hotels, 14,944 beds in 911 guesthouses, and 3,167 beds on board 161 safari ships included in this provision.

Additionally, there has been a steady increase in the number of tourists visiting the Maldives. The number of visitors per day in August over the past year has averaged around 5,075 people. Statistics show a continuous rise as this optimistic trend has continued into the current month. More specifically, from August 1 to 2, the number of visitors per day on average reached a high of 5,419.
